The Rock School’s Joseph Hartman rises in latest 247Sports rankings
Hartman moved up nearly 50 spots in the latest rankings, released Wednesday morning by 247Sports.
Coming off an impressive spring where he consistently showcased his next-level ability, Joseph Hartman – the son of Florida men’s basketball associate head coach Carlin Hartman – has experienced a notable rise in 247Sports’ latest class of 2026 rankings, released Wednesday morning.
Joseph Hartman, a 6-foot-5 standout at Gainesville’s The Rock School, jumped from No. 141 to No. 96 in the rankings as he prepares for his senior season at the high school level.
A Strong Spring Brings Attention and Offers
Throughout the spring, Hartman showcased his expanded game while participating with Austin Rivers Southeast Elite, where he caught the eye of multiple coaches at the Division I level, leading to an uptick in scholarship offers from programs around the country.
He led his team in three categories: points, assists and steals per game.
“Hartman has always been smart, efficient, and a great teammate,” Eric Bossi, 247Sports’ National Basketball Director, wrote in mid-May, “but (he) was playing with added aggression, looking more confident as a shooter, and had some more pop in his legs.
He told us that he’s added about 15 pounds of muscle since last summer, and it’s clear to see that the additional weight is allowing him to play with more force and confidence.
When coaches talk about guys who play the game the right way, Hartman is that type of guy.
It’s unsurprising that he’s the son of a coach himself. His father Carlin Hartman is an assistant for the reigning National Champion Florida Gators.

He’s got offers from programs like Butler, California, Liberty, Penn State, Tulane, and Virginia Tech, and made it clear that as awesome as it would be to play for his dad, he and his family are most focused on finding the right fit with the most opportunity to play.”
After participating in the live evaluation period for Adidas’ 3SSB Circuit at the Iowa West Fieldhouse in May, Joseph Hartman received a notable offer: Stanford head coach Kyle Smith reached out and extended an opportunity to join the program.
As Florida fans know, Smith and UF head coach Todd Golden have a close relationship. Golden joined Smith’s staff at Columbia University in 2012, giving Golden his start, first as director of basketball operations before being promoted to assistant coach.
Seven years later, Golden ascended from associate head coach to the head coach of the San Francisco program in 2019 when Smith took the Washington State job.
Following Hartman’s success at Adidas’ 3SSB Circuit, Joseph Hartman shined once again at the invite-only Pangos All-American Camp in Las Vegas, Nevada, and he would receive a scholarship offer four days later, on June 6, from UNLV, where his father was an assistant coach during the 2021-22 season prior to joining the Gators.
Less than a week later, Hartman continued to receive scholarship offers, with Fordham University extending an offer.
Now, as one of the top-100 prospects in the 2026 class following Wednesday’s update, it’s all but certain Joseph Hartman continues to experience a flurry of activity in his recruitment.
